DESIGN CENTRE SET TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR DTE
Donaldson Timber Engineering (DTE), leading UK truss manufacturer and engineered flooring supplier, has taken further steps to remain at the forefront of roof design, with the opening in May of a dedicated Design Centre.
Based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, the Design Centre is set to act as a centralised design facility which will ensure speed and quality of response to key, targeted customers. By focusing solely on design, the Centre will deliver a uniquely expert service to DTE’s clients.
Martin Cox has been appointed Group Technical Manager and will be responsible for the Centre. As a graduate engineer and an Associate of the Institute of Wood Science, he brings 20 years’ experience of design and manufacture to his new post. He has also been the manager of DTE Andover, and has run his own design consultancy. Martin believes the new Design Centre will take DTE forward in several ways. He said:
“The Design Centre gives great additional resources to the DTE group. It will enable us to deal even more efficiently with our biggest clients – major contractors, school and hospital projects, volume housing, and challenging one-off contracts. This Centre of technical excellence is also a resource for builders and developers of all sizes, as we can offer a full design consultancy service.”
DTE is confident that the Centre will allow it to focus on providing more innovative solutions to the challenges faced by house builders and timber frame companies.
Martin explained:
“The design centre will now take on very complex projects, with a view to providing our customers with clear, easy to read, and practical design solutions. In essence, with the new Design Centre, we can handle whatever our customers might throw at us! The new Centre ties the design side with the manufacturing side of DTE perfectly: we get the specific design and then come up with the practical solution.”
